After a very entertaining 2022 NHL draft that had more then it's share of surprises including the Montreal Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes who had the first overall pick in the draft in Montreal would go on to pick Juraj Slafkovsky instead of who most assumed would be Shane Wright.

Wright became a huge topic all weekend not just because the fall to fourth overall by the Seattle Kraken, But more about what people are calling "The Stare" at the Montreal Canadiens draft table. It was quite the look to say the least.

However during Sportsnet's Central Shane Wright wanted to end those rumors that Shane Wright hates the Habs and his apparent look that was made at the Montreal Canadiens.

Shane Wright would reveal there was no intent to stare down the Canadiens instead shared he was looking at the cameras.

"Not at all. I was just kind of looking at the cameras in front of me," Wright explained to Jamie Campbell on Blue Jays Central ahead of a game between the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays. "To be honest, I don't really remember too much going up on stage. It was just kind of a whirlwind for me so. I wasn't intentionally trying to stare anyone down I guess maybe it looked like that from the video, but there was no intent to stare them down. Just kind of look at the camera and their table was right behind it so I guess it kind of looked like it but there's no intent behind that."

Whether or not you believe that that's what Wright said however it definitely looked like he have the Canadiens a look if you watch the video. Understandably Wright was upset after many months of Shane Wright is going to be a Montreal Canadien and Wright is the First Overall Pick in this draft then ended up going fourth overall didn't sit well with Wright.

«I mean, obviously, you picture that in your mind. You picture your name being called first and walking up to the stage, pulling on that jersey especially with the draft being in Montreal and them picking first,» Wright admitted, still processing some mixed emotions.« I'm definitely gonna have a chip on my shoulder from this for sure. Definitely a little more motivation. I've always been self-motivated. Always been pushing myself internally, but it's definitely gonna give me a little more fire, for sure.»
