When the Chicago Blackhawks drafted London Knights Patrick Kane 1st overall back in the 2007 NHL entry draft, they knew they were drafting a star, but Kane didn't just meet expectations, he exceeded them.

Kane has became arguably one of the best Blackhawks in franchise history and quite possibly the best US born player of all time. Many assumed that Kane and his best friend, Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews would both retire as Chicago Blackhawks.

However, with the Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson trying to rebuild the organization, Kane and Toews are expected to be moved by March 3rd's NHL trade deadline if they lift their no movement clause. Many hockey insiders have linked Kane heading to the big Apple in New York, but that may now not be the case.

According to New York Rangers Insider Larry Brooks of the New York Post he believes that

"Kane may no longer be the right fit for the Rangers."

Brooks thinks the asking price is the reason why he doesn't see this trade working, with the Blackhawks wanting a 1st round pick and a top prospect. The names that the Blackhawks were reportedly asking in return are Alexis Lafreniere or Kappo Kakko, Brooks thinks the Rangers will not be making a deal for Chicago's needs.

Kane is having a great year points wise and could definitely help the Rangers compete for a Stanley Cup, but as the old saying goes you have to give up something to get something. The Rangers hold Kane's best friend and former Blackhawk Artemi Panarin, both Kane and Panarin have stated in the past that they would love to play with each other once again, but with that not happening due to recent reports you have to wonder is Kane is thinking twice about leaving Chicago.
