After playing two periods on Friday night against the Detroit Red Wings, starting goaltender Petr Mrázek didn't come back out for the third. Alex Stalock finished out the game in his place, securing the 4-3 overtime win for the Blackhawks. The Hawks announced this morning that Mrázek was placed on injured reserve with a strained groin.
He was the starter for the past three games, allowing 10 goals on 79 total shots faced. Stalock will likely be the starter until Mrázek returns, but there's no timeline for his recovery yet. The Blackhawks called up Arvid Söderblom from Rockford and he'll be the backup for Stalock.
Mrázek only played 20 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season; he was on injured reserve with a groin injury then also. He was traded to the Blackhawks along with the 25th overall pick in exchange for the 38th overall pick.
