Many people wondered if the fans would show up after another tough season and a difficult offseason which saw players such as Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome and Dominik Kubalik move on to other teams.
Friday's home opener against the Detroit Red Wings featured 18,573 fans which is 95% capacity of the United Center. Now it was the home opener against one of the Hawks bitter rivals, but still it was nice to see the fans come out and support the team.
Those fans were treated to a great game as the Hawks rallied from a pair of two-goal deficits to beat Detroit 4-3 in overtime on Max Domi's winner, sending the majority of those 18,573 humans home happy.
It will be interesting to see the attendance for today's matinee against the Seattle Kraken. Was Friday's attendance an anomaly or are the fans going to show up and support this young team? Only time will tell.
