The Professional Hockey Writers Association has released their list of nominees for the 2022 Bill Masterston Trophy. The Bill Masterston Trophy is awarded every year to "the National League Hockey player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey"
This year's nominee for the Blackhawks is center Dylan Strome. Strome is the perfect player to be nominated for this award. Between the early healthy scratches under Jeremy Colliton, to the recent passing of his beloved dog Wrigley, Strome has had to persevere through quite a lot. Sportsmanship wise, Strome for the most part is a class act on the ice and definitely a class act off the ice. And I'm not sure how you can question his dedication to hockey when he is having one the best seasons of his career even with everything he dealt with to start out the season.
The Masterston is set to be awarded in either game 3 or 4 of this years Stanley Cup Final. So if Strome is one of the top three vote getters out of all 32 nominees, we could see him on our tv screens briefly during the Stanley Cup Final.
Check out Strome's hat-trick against the Ducks earlier this season:
