It is regarded as the third-highest level of pro hockey in North America, and is below the NHL and AHL. As mentioned by Bladeofsteel.com, this is a league where a lot of former goons tend to end up, where most have more penalty minutes than points.
On Thursday the Allen Americans took on the Fort Wayne Komets and players started going at it after the play was blown dead. Mikael Robidoux, who is an undrafted 23 year old, decided to cross check his opponent multiple times sparking havoc, where 30 penalty minutes were handed out.
136 penalty minutes were handed out in this game alone.
The Allen Americans head coach took exception as to what he thought was poor officiating and let the referee be known he was displeased. He was then ejected, and made an interesting exiting move by taking off his suit jacket and slamming it on the ice, almost as if he scored a touchdown on superbowl Sunday.
With 136 penalty minutes in this game, the East Coast Hockey League does not seem to be slowing down one bit, and i am sure this is one of many more interesting situations to come.
