Player Had to Have His Organ Removed After Undergoing Surgery Due to a Huge Hit
With all the good hockey brings, there is sadly always the bad. That is the case for Yegor Stronov, a 23-year old player who plays for Dynamo-Altay of the VHL received a massive hit from an opponent by the name of Yegor Filippov.
The hit caused some serious damage..
The hit didn't appear to leave Stronov seriously injured on the play, until he was examined according to a statement from Sport24.ru:
The examination revealed damage to the left kidney. During the surgery the doctors failed to save the organ, so unfortunately the kidney had to be removed.
We would like to express our deepest words of support to relatives and friends of Yegor!
Stronov is reportedly in "serious but stable" condition, which is a little bit confusing of a statement. After having his kidney removed through emergency surgery you can imagine he's not doing too well, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
