With just one day remaining before the NHL season begins, the Blackhawks' roster received some exciting news from the back end: one of their highly touted defensive prospects has made the team. Kevin Korchinski, the former Seattle Thunderbird who reached the Memorial Cup last year but lost to the Quebec Remparts, worked hard this summer.
This effort paid off, as Luke Richardson announced today that Korchinski has made the team and will be in the lineup for game one against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Richardson had some wise words for Korchinski now that he's earned his spot.
With Korchinski in place, playing alongside Connor Murphy, the Blackhawks have released what appears to be the final roster for game one. Along with Connor Bedard and Lukas Reichel, the Blackhawks' youth movement is in full swing.
However, this roster will likely undergo significant changes by the end of the year. It's important to note that the Blackhawks are not expecting to have a successful season and are positioning themselves for another lottery pick next summer.
The game is scheduled for 8:00 PM Eastern Time tomorrow, October 10th.
