Dach was drafted third overall in the 2019 NHL Draft held in Vancouver with the hope of him being the future of the team. His size, speed and playmaking ability were held in high regard, and he played on the Hawks the following season. He earned 23 points (8G, 15A) in 64 games.
In the past two seasons, Dach hasn't exceeded expectations; this could be blamed on his wrist injury from playing on Team Canada in the IIHF World Junior Championship games. He never played quite the same after returning to play March 27, 2021. Even with the setbacks he's faced in the last two years, there are still teams out there who want the 21-year-old forward.
Given what the Blackhawks received in the Brandon Hagel trade, it's expected that Davidson will want a return in that range. If he could manage to get a first-round pick or more before the draft starts along with a prospect, he'll likely make that trade.
The clock is ticking on trading into the first round of this year's draft. If any teams in the market for Dach make a good enough offer, Chicago might be saying goodbye to 77.
