Alleged cheating and surveillance scandal for Team Canada to result in penalty
Team Canada's soccer team under fire following major allegations
Men's and Women's Canadian soccer teams are currently under investigation, as well as a firing of the Women's teams' coach has taken place.
According to a report from Lethbridge Herald and TSN, the team reportedly hired contractors and others to spy on other countries/opponents.
Another accusation has been made, dating back to 2022 for the Women's team.
Canada's men's and women's soccer teams have relied on drones and spying for years, sources say. Coaching staff and contractors working with Canada's men's and women's national soccer teams have been engaged for years in efforts to film the closed-door training sessions of their opponents, including during the women's gold-medal winning Olympic tournament in 2021, sources told TSN.
It seems that all of these spying situations include drones being used to fly in/over arenas during opponents' practices, dating back to November 15th, 2019, in Florida.
