"Once the hottest backup goalie in the league, things have taken a bad turn for goalie Scott Darling since leaving Chicago. Winning the Stanley Cup and being a reliable fill in for Corey Crawford earned Darling the big bucks in free agency when he signed with the Carolina Hurricanes. However his time in Carolina has been disastrous and it finally came to an end on Sunday. The Hurricanes traded Darling to the Florida Panthers who then placed him on waivers for purpose of buyout. Darling's numbers in Carolina have been so bad that he was even sent to the AHL last year where he didn't do much better putting up a 3.40 goals against average and .882 save percentage for the Checkers. We'll see if Darling can get some work next year, but it's not looking too good right now.
Scott Darling (CAR) to be bought out, too — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) June 30, 2019
