"From all indications, the Chicago Blackhawks were looking to bolster their prospect pool at the 2019 NHL Draft with the third overall pick. However general manager Stan Bowman did admit he would move the pick if something mind blowing from another team was put in front of him. Apparently Vancouver was trying to blow his mind however it just couldn't get done. James Cybulski of Sportsnet Radio in Vancouver reports that the Canucks and Blackhawks were trying to work out a deal. The Canucks would receive the Blackhawks third overall pick and the Hawks would receive Vancouver's 10th overall. Along with the Hawks' third overall pick the Canucks would also receive defenseman Brent Seabrook but Chicago was simply unwilling to retain any of his salary. With Seabrook's full five years at $6.875million on the table, the deal died and Vancouver walked away. Seabrook of course carries a full no movement clause however is a native of Richmond, BC, so it's plausible he would have accepted a move to Vancouver.
