The NHL season is currently on hold, but prospects around the NHL are making decisions regarding their future. Lots of the big NCAA names are making their decision whether they'll go back to the NCAA or make the jump for the AHL/NHL. One player who's ready to make that jump is one of the Chicago Blackhawks defensive prospects. 2017 Blackhawks' second round pick Ian Mitchell is ready to make the jump after three years at the University of Denver. Mitchell is ready to sign his three year entry level contract and is even willing to sign it for this season if the season ever gets underway. The NHL isn't allowing prospects to sign ELC's starting for this season at the moment but it allowing deals that start for the 2020-21 season. Chicago has been high on Mitchell for awhile and tried to sign him last summer but the defenseman decided to return to the NCAA.The 21 year old registered 10 goals and 22 assists this year at Denver.
