The Columbus Blue Jackets organization are continuing to evaluate and rebuild their team as they chose to place their former first round draft pick Brendan Gaunce on waivers.

According to eliteprospects.com, the 30-year-old forward who stands at six foot 3 and 214 lbs was drafted in 2012, first round, 26th overall by the Vancouver Canucks. After spending several years with the Canucks organization, he then moved to the Boston Bruins and Ben to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He is also marked as a strong two way forward who has a great compete level and good net drive.

He split his time this year between the Cleveland Monsters and the Blue Jackets where in the HL he played 46 games, scored nineteen goals with 20 assists and 39 points and had 37 penalty minutes.

He is currently coming off a two-year deal that he signed with the Blue Jackets worth $1.525 million. A player of his size and ability to play on the bottom 6 Well-being able to penalty kill and help defend, could entice general manager Kyle Davidson to either pluck him off waivers or wait until his contract is over & him to a new deal.

It's quite likely being a league minimum player that Davidson could lock him down for another league minimum offer.
