The Arizona Coyotes are up for sale again, with owner Alex Meruelo talking to potential buyers about selling the NHL team. According to Arizona Sports' John Gambardoro, Meruelo has talked to lots of people to see if they want to buy the team. He bought a share of the Coyotes in 2019.
Meruelo wants more than $1 billion for the team, which is a lot more than what Forbes says it's worth, about $500 million. But he's also trying to buy land from the state in June, which he hopes will help keep the Coyotes in Arizona.
One person who might want to buy the team is Ryan Smith, who owns the Utah Jazz basketball team. He wants to bring an NHL team to Salt Lake City and build a new arena for both basketball and hockey.
There are worries about the Coyotes' future, especially since they're currently playing at a small arena at Arizona State University.
The head of the NHL Players' Association, Marty Walsh, said he's worried about the Coyotes' owners and their plans for the team.
