Eddie Olczyk's broadcasting career in jeopardy following announcement
Eddie Olcyzk, after a spat with the Chicago Blackhawks, would leave the announcing booth for the team. He would then, follow his family out west into the city, enthralled by the primordial Kraken, in Seattle.
He would join the crew in July of 2022 and continue his broadcasting career with the Kraken, with J.T. Brown and John Forslund.
However, as Regional Sports Networks are dying, there is a monumental shift to change to independent sources of sports media broadcasting.
The Kraken has made a major decision to abandon the regional sports network, Root Sports, owned by the Seattle Mariners to forge their own path.
Much like the Washington Capitals, the Kraken have explored different ways of broadcasting their game, as they move onto Amazon Prime and Tegna, a local television station.
This leaves Olcyzk in a rough spot, as this season was the final season for Kraken to keep their tentacles around the root of Seattle sports, and what will happen to Olcyzk's career?
There's been nothing officially announced yet for Olcyzk, but we imagine with his storied career in the NHL, he shouldn't have trouble finding a spot.
We wish Eddie, nothing but the best!
