People have had it with referees, and have decided that they're not trustworthy in many ways. Honestly, who can blame them?
Another Zebra missed a vital call during the Anaheim Ducks and the Colorado Avalanche game on Friday. The Avalanche would finally secure the first win of the season, in a game that went to OT.
Alexandar Georgiev would put up another suspect performance for the team, posting a whopping .811 save percentage, and a 4.99 GAA! How is Chris McFarland, and Jared Bednar justifying this?
The Ducks would go on to lose 4-3 in OT, despite help coming from the NHL's referees, who failed to call a glaringly obvious penalty.
Here's the play that the referee missed:
Fans would share their frustration with the lack of a call on X:
Ryan Strome would later score on the Avalanche which led the Ducks to take control of the game.
This would of course, lead the Colorado Avalanche, and Nathan MacKinnon to do their best to take the lead in the game. MacKinnon would rally the team to do the unthinkable, in a dire situation.
The Avalanche will look to put two wins together, as they take on the rebuilding San Jose Sharks, who have some legitimate weapons in Tyler Toffoli, Fabian Zetterlund, and Mikael Granlund to lead the way.
Can the Avalanche look like the team from 2022? Not this iteration in my opinion, but it should be a competitive matchup regardless.
