Great News For Stan Bowman.
"After years of being in salary cap hell, the Chicago Blackhawks and general manager Stan Bowman have slowly built up a bit of cap space. Bowman doesn't have any big names to sign to big contracts this year which puts him in a perfect position considering the recent news circulating regarding the 2019-20 salary cap. According to Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger the NHL salary cap isn't expected to hit the $83million mark everybody had speculated. McKenzie reports the cap won't even hit $82million.Some teams are up tight against the salary cap including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Jets just to name a few. This puts Bowman in a position to help out another team by taking on a soon to be expiring contract and at the same time landing a younger player to help a team in cap trouble. We'll see if Bowman uses this strategy as he said he's been very busy working the phones recently. Multiple teams I've spoken to are very concerned about this cap forecast.
