Dallas Stars radio host Owen Newkirk has recently shared a statement that was relayed on from Joe Pavelski, who has spent many years in the NHL.
After nearly 2 decades in the NHL, Pavelski has stated that he planned this year was going to be his last year.
The Dallas Stars were sadly just eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in game six which, could've had Pavelski going to the Stanley Cup finals his final NHL season.
He was a seventh round draft pick in the 2003 NHL draft and clearly proved everybody wrong as he became one of the most prominent American-born players in the entire entire NHL, with some of the best hand-eye coordination in deflecting pucks.
He spent his first 13 years with San Jose Sharks, scoring 355 goals in 963 games with them. He then took his talents from the Sharks to the Dallas Stars, where he signed a three-year contract which just expired in Dallas.
Continuing to impress in Dallas, putting up 307 points and 369 games. He took another shot at the Stanley Cup but sadly, he and the Dallas Stars fell short against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
His career ends impressively, with 1332 games and 476 goals making for 1068 points.
He ranks among the top American players in NHL history and will definitely be a Hall of Fame inductee.
