Former Blackhawk Nikita Zadorov ruining his shot with contending team
The Vancouver Canucks were just eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers, and if that wasn't bad enough news- multiple defensemen from the organization are now requesting substantial pay days.
Amongst those few names are former Chicago Blackhawk Nikita Zadorov and Filip Hronek.
Rick Dhaliwal, a reporter that covers the Vancouver Canucks noted info on Zadorov which may force him to test the free agent market:
"I believe Zadorov may have priced himself out of Vancouver," Dhaliwal reported. "The city, the fans are loving him, but he's looking for term, some say over $5 million, some say over $6 million."
For the Canucks, it doesn't get easier after Zadorov, as Filip Hronek is reportedly seeking a serious payday himself:
"Filip Hronek... this guy's asking for $8 million. If that $8 million ask continues, the Canucks need to move on," Dhaliwal explained.
The Canucks are also left with free agents Dakota Joshua and Elias Lindholm, who also need a large pay raise:
"Joshua led the NHL with hits in the playoffs... his stock did not go down. It's gonna cost over $3 million but if they get closer to July 1st, is it going to get to $4 million?" Dhaliwal added.
As the July 1st free agency frenzy is quickly approaching, fans will have to keep their eyes peeled on what could be a completely new plan moving forward in Vancouver.
