NHL revives 50-year old Stanley Cup Playoff tradition this year
NHL brings back historic tradition for this years Stanley Cup Playoffs
The NHL has brought back a long-standing tradition that has yet to be seen since the 1960's, where the Stanley Cup is introduced prior to puck drop.
For the past 60 plus years, the cup is kept hidden away until the winning team earns their final win in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but Bettman has shaken things up this year, bringing back quite the cool tradition.
"The ultimate prize is in the building. "
In 2020 during the 'bubble hockey' playoffs when COVID-19 was at it's peak, the NHL brought the cup and displayed it in the stands- nothing like this historic tradition though, where it is on ice, right in front of the players.
