NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and brother Matthew murdered in tragic bike crash accident by alleged drunk driver

We regret to share the tragic news that Columbus Blue Jackets and USA national team forward Johnny Gaudreau has passed away at the age of 31.
Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, were struck by an SUV while riding their bikes together. The
SUV was driven by an alleged drunk driver who was attempting to pass two cars in line. The driver reportedly hit the Gaudreau brothers from behind while trying to pass a car on the right.
Both brothers suffered fatal injuries.
Johnny Gaudreau had a remarkable career in the NHL, playing 763 games from 2013 to 2024.
He scored 243 goals and recorded 743 points during his time with the Calgary Flames and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Gaudreau was drafted 104th overall by the Calgary Flames in 2011 and quickly became one of the league's most exciting players. His impact on the game, both in the NHL and on the international stage, will be remembered by fans and teammates alike.
The driver involved in this tragic incident has been charged with two counts of death by auto and was found to be driving under the influence. This devastating loss is a reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and the lives it can destroy.
