"The NHL is more than likely looking at a condensed 2020-21 schedule which will be rough on some goalies. That's why the Montreal Canadiens traded for Jake Allen and have a more than reliable backup for Carey Price during a season which will likely have plenty of back to backs. This is why it seems the Chicago Blackhawks are trying to get a solid backup of their own. While Corey Crawford has made it clear he didn't like sharing the net with Robin Lehner this past season, he might have no choice during a condensed schedule. They've apparently found their target. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Blackhawks are trying to acquire Arizona Coyotes goalie Darcy Kuemper. Kuemper has two years left with an AAV of $4.5million which could set up for a new starting goalie if Crawford only signs a one year deal. The 30 year old put up a 2.22 goals against average and .928 save percentage in 29 games this past season.
