Will Joel Quenneville make a return to the NHL? Former Coach linked to NHL teams
Joel Quenneville resigned in disgrace in 2021 as a result of the Kyle Beach incident. He would remain out of the NHL until he made work towards understanding his own shortcomings in the situation, and fast forward to July 2024 he and Stan Bowman have been granted reinstatement.
So, now that Quenneville can coach again in the NHL he should have suitors right? A three-time Stanley Cup-winning coach, and took the Florida Panthers to the playoffs, during his time in Sunrise.
According to The Hockey News Matt Carlson, the former Blackhawks coach has 4 teams linked to him.
Carlson believes that if something goes wrong with the Calgary Flames, Detroit Red Wings, Utah HC or Pittsburgh Penguins coaching situations, he could be a candidate for these jobs.
All four teams have bench bosses, who are feeling the heat from below as their jobs aren't as secure as they used to be.
With Quenneville eager to return to coaching the game he lives, he would undoubtedly love another shot at another Stanley Cup.
He concluded his tenure in Chicago with a 45224996 regular season record, a 7652 record in the postseason, and as the second winningest coach in NHL history with 890 wins. His 452 wins are second in Blackhawks history behind only Billy Reay, and only Reay had a longer unbroken tenure with the team
