NHL Refs Prevent Leafs from Making a Tasteless Move Last Night
The Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs have matched up in the first round of the NHL playoffs. The rivalry never dies as the Maple Leafs haven't beaten the Bruins in a series since 1959.
This is a do-or-die series for the Sheldon Keefe-led, Maple Leafs and they came up short last night.
The Maple Leafs despite having the star power of Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Morgan Rielly, and Mitch Marner couldn't pull off a win. The Leafs would fall without making any major noise, 5-1.
The Bruins fetched the leaf-blower and easily swept them aside in game 1.
With the frustration of the desperate Leafs late in the game evident, a Maple Leafs player was about to make a decision that lacked class and sportmanship, until a referee stepped in.
In a sign of disrespect to the Bruins, a Maple Leafs player tried to skate off with the puck after the match was concluded.
Pucks are used to track team's wins during the playoffs, in a rack that accumulates 1-16 wins during the Stanley Cup hunt.
The Bruins win Game 1 by a 5-1 final and the Leafs are trying to skate off the ice with the game puck. Referees had to intervene.
The Maple Leafs need to clean it up and practice better defense if they're going to defeat a Boston Bruins team, with cup aspirations.
