The Chicago Blackhawks are involved in several off-season rumors this year for one specific reason, general manager Kyle Davidson publicly stating they're ready to make moves and that they are tired of losing.
With nearly $35M in cap space, Davidson's limit is the sky as he is in full control and is known for his blockbuster moves in the past (trading away Kane, Dach, DeBrincat and more).
According to a journalist from Chicago Hockey Now, the team will consider a trade for Toronto Maple Leafs' star forward Mitch Marner.
Marner would prove to be a force on a Blackhawks team, and be able to get the most on-ice minutes of his career, something he has not been able to do in Chicago.
While doing that, he would be playing alongside the hottest name in the hockey world-Connor Bedard.
The journalist mentioned the Blackhawks moving Seth Jones in the possible blockbuster as the Leafs are in need of a defensemen, while they may not be able to take on Jones' contract-Kyle Davidson would have no problem retaining up to 50% of Jones' whopping contract, as he's done in the past (retaining salary to make trades work).
Seth Jones is entering the third year of his deal handed to him by none other then Stan Bowmen, which holds a 8-year $76M deal ($9.5M deal).
As the off-season approaches for all teams near the playoffs ending, all eyes will be on the Leafs and Blackhawks in combining for a blockbuster deal.
