"I would like to sincerely apologize to the entire Chicago Blackhawks organization, including ownership, management, coaches, trainers, employees, and my teammates. I would also like to apologize to my fans and my family. I am embarrassed and I have let you all down," Perry stated in the release.
While specific details regarding the violation haven't been disclosed, Perry made it clear that the incident did not involve any of his teammates or their families. He acknowledged the speculation and rumors surrounding the situation and expressed being:
"sickened by the impact this has had on others."
Perry admitted that his behavior was inappropriate and wrong, taking responsibility for the negative consequences. In a proactive step toward personal improvement, he mentioned,
"I have started working with experts in the mental health and substance abuse fields to discuss my struggles with alcohol, and I will take whatever steps necessary to ensure this never happens again."
The veteran player concluded his statement with a commitment to regaining the trust and respect of everyone who believed in him throughout his career:
"Once again, I am deeply sorry," Perry emphasized, underscoring the sincerity of his apology in the wake of this unexpected and regrettable development.
