Hockey Canada says the results of an adjudicative panel tasked with "determining whether certain members of the 2018 National Junior Team breached Hockey Canada's code of conduct" are under appeal.
All players from the 2018 world junior team remain suspended by Hockey Canada.
However, the pivotal findings remain undisclosed due to the ongoing appeal process, prolonging the public's anticipation.
In November 2022, an independent adjudicative panel received Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP's final investigative report regarding allegations against the 2018 National Junior Team in June 2018. The panel was tasked with holding a hearing to determine whether certain members breached Hockey Canada's code of conduct and, if so, what sanctions should be imposed.
The panel completed its hearing, providing the final adjudicative report to all involved parties. Subsequently, a notice of appeal was filed, as permitted under Hockey Canada's Investigation and Adjudication Procedures. The anticipated in-camera appeal process prevents the sharing of report details, including findings, to preserve the appeal's integrity.
As the appeal process is about to commence privately, the report's details, including findings, remain confidential to maintain the integrity of the appeal.
Hockey Canada's official statement illuminates the investigation's status, pushing the situation closer to resolution.
Despite the ongoing appeal process, intricate details remain undisclosed, heightening anticipation within the hockey community for unfolding developments in this ongoing narrative.
