KHL forward stretchered off ice after dangerous terrifying collision

A dangerous scene unfolded drain a KHL game where Gleb Kuzmin was stretchered off the ice after suffering a headfirst collision by former Montreal Canadiens fifth draft pick Darren Dietz.

The incident occurred when Kuzmin was attempting to backhand the puck into the Avangard Osmk goalie to which Dietz checked Kuzmin towards the boards where he fell awkwardly at a high speed and hit headfirst. Within seconds, he was in considerable pain to which the entire arena fell silent as they watched the player struggle on the ice.

According to Salavat's head coach Victor Kozlov, Kuzmin's injury has been stated as serious and will be a big loss for their team.

Some speculation has surfaced as The Hockey News hub tweeted on X that there may be a potential spinal fracture to Kuzmin but that has yet to be determined.

The 27-year-old forward has played eight years with Salavat in the KHL it has been a player who has worked his way through the ranks of the league. He has accumulated 26 points through 128 career KHL games.

As for Dietz, the 32-year-old who was born in Canada has been currently playing for Kazakhstan internationally. He was chosen by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2011 Entry Draft and played 13 career games for the team before heading overseas to the KHL.
