This was the first goal since former Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane had scored at 59 minutes and 43 seconds on February 27 2019.
It seems Bedard has broken through his slump as in the past three games he has scored two goals and has amassed five points. It's been a struggle to watch him along with the Blackhawks go through what they're going through as the team tries to find its footing and put some consistent games together.
Bedard has been a worry as his game appeared to be regressing and falling into a sophomore slump. Recently, the coaching staff made the decision to begin calling up some use to help it infuse it into the lineup including Frank Nazar and Kevin Korchinski from Rockport.
The Blackhawks had defeated the New York Islanders 5-3 with several players including Teuvo Teravainen who erupted for a power play goal and two assists along with Connor Bedard's goal and assist.
The Blackhawks have a long way to go before they can even consider themselves out of the woods. The team is currently through 30 games of the season, with a record of 9-19-2 for 20 points with a - 23 goal differential.
While many feel the season is lost, new rookie head coach Anders Sorensen is doing everything he can to help turn things around as he is auditioning for the job long term.
