There were a few tense moments during a drill between Connor Murphy and Colton Dach as the rookie rocked Murphy to the ice and he was slow to get up.
The incident occurred when Murphy and Dach were battling along the boards when a dump in took place. It appears that Murphy took an elbow to the face which caused him to crumble to the ice and he was slow to get up. It appears no damage was done as he skated towards his net after the incident.
Players like Dach have been told to enhance their physicality as there have been more eyes on him during this training camp. With the size he holds and the intensity he plays at, the Blackhawks are looking for a more dynamic forward who can give him those aspects every game.
The 21-year-old Dach, now stands at six foot 4 and 196 lbs and is looking for a full-time role with the Hawks this year. He was drafted in 2021, second round, 62nd overall. The next step will be to see how he performs during games and if he brings the intensity like he did to Murphy, it's likely he may remain with the Blackhawks at least for the few games at the beginning of the season.
The Blackhawks will have their first preseason game at home against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday September 25th.
