Chicago Blackhawks New Goaltender Laurent Brossoit Miss Significant Time
The Chicago Blackhawks will be without a major piece in the lineup, as newly acquired goalie Laurent Brossoit underwent knee surgery.
He will miss five to seven weeks and training camp during recovery.
He may need an additional seven weeks to recover, which could result in him missing a chunk of the regular season as well.
Brossoit was one of the team's biggest additions during the summer, as he was signed to a two-year, $6.6 Million AAV contract. He is likely to be 1b to Petr Mrazek's 1A in net.
There's no telling how competitive the Blackhawks will be now, as he will be out for a significant amount of time.
Brossoit excelled with the Winnipeg Jets last season, as a backup to Connor Hellebuyck, posing a 15-5-2 record, .927 save percentage, and 2.00 GAA in 23 games last season.
We will keep an eye on his recovery and hope he is ok'd to return to action before the regular season begins.
