A Chicago reporter offered some insight to why general manager Kyle Davidson fired former head coach Luke Richardson yesterday.

It seemed odd that the firing came at the time it did after one month ago, Davidson was convinced that Richardson was the right coach for the job and he deemed the notion of firing him ridiculous.

Since then, it became clear that the Blackhawks were worsening under the guide of Richardson and Blackhawks reporter Ben Pope pointed out that the Hawks expected goal rates drop dramatically from 48.8% in October to 42.2% currently which puts them last in the NHL.

The metrics of the Blackhawks have been terrible over the past 25 games where many felt including Davidson that the team would take strides an improve their point totals as the team looks to pull itself out from the basement of the standings.

This was not the case and it was clear that the constant line shuffling, the erosion of Connor Bedard's confidence and offence which he currently stands at five goals on the season was just not acceptable for Davidson and that this is a results driven league and Richardson was not getting the job done.

It remains to be seen on how interim rookie head coach Anders Sorensen will be able to change the Blackhawks especially with the current roster he has.

It's important that the Blackhawks find a way to halt the bleeding and help Bedard regain his composure and his confidence as he will drive this team forward.

Sorensen's first game as head coach will be on Saturday December 7th And he will take on the Winnipeg Jets at the United center.
