The play began with the dumping into the Saint Louis zone where Bedard and Bolduc began shoving one another which led to punches being thrown. Within seconds, all remaining Blackhawks players game to Bedard defence and piled onto Bolduc. Bedard skated away unharmed it's straight to the penalty box.
It was noted after the game that Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson was proud of his group on how they handled that situation and that they came to Bedard's defence as a five man unit.
Fans who watched the game took to the X platform and voiced their opinions on what they saw and how it was extremely unexpected to see bedard throwing punches and fighting another player. Many fans appeared bewildered by the site and some even felt that this scenario hopefully will not happen again.
It's important that hockey players defend themselves but it's also important that the team ensure that their superstars do not have to drop the gloves as often or at all.
In the end, this was just a preseason game and Bedard will likely take stock of what happened and be happy with the outcome that he did not suffer a major injury especially when all the players piled on one another.
The Blackhawks preseason has come to an end and now they await the start of the new season which will begin on Tuesday October 8th with the Blackhawks are on the road against the newly formed Utah hockey club.
