Instead, they're utilizing another pro-soccer professional, for another season as they have brought back former Chelsea goalkeeper, and Petr Mrazek's friend Petr Cech.
Cech was idolized by Mrazek, which led to an interesting partnership in 2023 for training camp, as the Blackhawks brought him in to help out to play some soccer, with Mrazek.
And this time around, it looks like Cech got to don the goalie gear, and practice with the Blackhawks in a small exercise called "Two-Puck".
Two-puck is a drill for players to practice their stick-handling, and Cech looked to be on fire, not missing a beat.
Cech was also in the net during October 2023, helping the Blackhawks with the same drill.
It seems like the Blackhawks are comfortable going outside of the box when it comes to training camp.
Not only that but GM Kyle Davidson is utilizing all resources available to him, to make sure he has a quality training camp for the team.
While this does seem odd at first, it gives Cech more in-depth practice on reads and will help him in the EPL, while giving the Hawks goalies a chance to relax and see how someone else from another sport reads shots on the net.
If GM Kyle Davidson likes to keep it weird, and fresh while making the Blackhawks a successful team?
We're here for it. Cech has also played for the EIHL's Guildford Phoenix, switching professions recently.
But just don't hire Ralph Kruger, we'd hope he saw how big of a dumpster fire that was in Buffalo.
