The United Center was packed with 18,742 fans for the home finale against the Hurricanes, bringing the final attendance average to 18,836 for the 2023-24 season.
This boost in attendance likely positions the Hawks as the fourth-highest in the NHL this season, trailing behind the Canadiens, Lightning, and Red Wings, and just ahead of the Canucks, Hurricanes, and Maple Leafs.
The increase in attendance is notable, surpassing last season's average of 17,167, which itself exceeded expectations.
It's the highest full-season attendance for the Hawks since 2019-20, when they averaged 21,441 fans before the pandemic.
The Blackhawks saw strong attendance throughout the season, with at least 18,000 fans at each of their final 16 home games.
A season-high crowd of 21,141 gathered for Chris Chelios' jersey retirement ceremony on February 25 against the Red Wings. They also surpassed 20,000 fans for the Black Friday game against the Leafs and for the pre- and post-Christmas matchups.
They dipped below 17,000 fans only three times, with the lowest attendance recorded at 16,401 during the game against the Sharks on January 16. This marks a significant improvement from the previous season, where they fell short of 17,000 in 18 games.
