During an interview with John Scott and his Dropping the Gloves Podcast, current Chicago Blackhawks forward Nick Foligno told a hilarious story on how he wanted to fight Zdeno Chara.
Foligno explains to Scott that he always wanted to fight Chara and to see how strong he is and during a game, he had his chance as he was crosschecking Chara in front of the net while both were swearing at one another. In the end, Foligno made the right decision and skated away and went to the bench.
The 36-year-old winger began his career with the Ottawa Senators as he was drafted in 2006, first round 28th overall. According to eliteprospects.com, Foligno played for five NHL organizations which included the senators, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks.
He has settled into the leadership role of the Blackhawks and has enjoyed his time with the team thus far. With the major changes that have happened across the team during this summer's offseason.
Foligno will have a chance to improve his numbers dramatically and hope the team we'll move the needle towards a playoff spot within the next year or two.
Last season, he played 74 games, scoring 17 goals with 20 assists for 37 points and had 57 penalty minutes.
