Chicago Blackhawks Send Top Prospect To Nashville Predators In Unusual Trade
Today GM Kyle Davidson saw fit to trade Ryder Rolston, to the Nashville Predators. In return, the Blackhawks will receive future considerations in trade for the depth forward.
Rolston was a top prospect for the Blackhawks in their recent showcase.
Rolston played 62 games for the Rockford IceHogs last season and has seen no NHL time during his short stint in the Blackhawks organization.
Prior to his arrival in the AHL, he played the entirety of the 2022-2023 season in the NCAA with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He played 27 games and scored 20 points( 7 G, 13 A) with the club.
Rolston was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL draft and was selected 139th overall by the Colorado Avalanche.
Rolston, 23, spent two seasons in the Chicago Blackhawks organization, skating in 68 career regular-season games with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League and compiling 20 points (11G, 9A).
He never suited up for the organization, but instead would sign with the Rockford IceHogs on March 13th, 2023.
The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Ryder Rolston on a three-year, entry-level contract that runs through the 2025-26 season ($895,000 salary cap hit). Rolston will report to the Rockford IceHogs.
This could be a move that gives the Predators more room to rebuild, or simply a depth option in the AHL with the Milwaukee Admirals.
Either way, something about Rolston captured GM Barry Trotz's eye!
In 62 games with the Rockford IceHogs he scored 19 points( 9 G, 10 A) and will head to Nashville.
