Florida Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice Calls Out One Name To Blame For Four-Game Losing Streak

The Panthers losing streak was extended to four games after another disappointing loss to the Ovechkin-less Washington Capitals this past Monday.

Tensions are rising in Florida, and it may be time for them to sound the alarm soon- just one season after winning the Stanley Cup.

Head coach Paul Maurice laid all the accountability on one specific name, and it was himself at surprise.

"It's nothing wrong with the team,» Maurice said via Florida Hockey Now . The coach sucks in the last three weeks. Yeah, I have to re-establish a game. They do what we ask them to do. They play hard. But we're off our identity and off our style of hockey. That's my responsibility."

It's rare for fans- more specifically Blackhawks fans, to witness a head coach take accountability.

Luke Richardson has not once put blame to himself despite the Blackhawks' mess of a 2024-25 NHL season start, that many believe is Richardson's blame.

Maurice circled back on his words and stated that the team 'might as well' get used to not feeling good, odd comments following his accountability statement.

"The idea that we're going to get back to feeling good just isn't happening for our team this year. We might as well get used to it. We have four sets of back-to-back games in January, three sets and nine games in 15 days to finish."
Maurice said.
"So, we're not feeling good this year. Once we get that out of your head, we'll be alright,"
He concluded his press conference with.

With their four game losing streak and tensions rising in Florida following losses to the Blackhawks, Capitals and other bottom-dwellers, Paul Maurice could be on the hot seat.

In my opinion, Maurice is a rare breed of a coach to come by- despite the slump, they should not lose hope on the veteran behind the bench.

As with the Jim Montgomery situation- being hired less than a week after being fired, the same would surely happen with Maurice.

The Panthers are in hopes to snap their losing streak as they face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday at 7PM.
