During the Calgary Flames game in Scotiabank Saddledome tensions flared, as Mikael Backlund cross-checked Connor Bedard.

This was the 2nd time which a Calgary Flames player would rough Bedard, and get away with it. As Martin Pospisil, would elbow Bedard earlier in the match and wouldn't receive a penalty.

The tensions would continue, as this was one of ten penalties in the third period alone split between both teams.

The cross-checking would occur with 8:25 left in the 3rd period.

Connor Bedard would have to be held back, by teammates like Tyler Bertuzzi and Seth Jones would intervene. But they wouldn't drop their gloves to protect Bedard.

What happened to answering the bell?

Bedard would be visibly and understandably angry, but ironically later the superstar center would be calling at 8:02 left for hooking Rasmus Andersson.

An example of how the NHL fails to police the product on the ice, and while the NHL is culturally phasing out enforcers, you can tell this is a case of Bedard needing support.

The Calgary Flames were given favorable treatment yesterday and would ride it to victory.

They won 6-4 over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Bedard was also pretty targeted this game, but the fact that he didn't really let it impact his play is a testament to his mental toughness. Some guys would be frustrated and, instead, he went out and continued to produce scoring chances.

That wouldn't stop Bedard though, as he came out with another 3 points(1 G, 2 A) against the rebuilding and dirty Calgary Flames.
