Well, it was announced today that Brett Seney was invited to the Spengler Cup starting December 26th to play on Team Canada.
The Spengler Cup is an annual tournament where six teams from around the world come and participate.
Seney was drafted in the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils. He has played 66 NHL games in his career and has put up six goals and eight assists, tallying up to 14 points.
Seney would remain in the Devils organization playing for the Binghamton Devils until 2021 when he was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs on a one-year contract. He played two games up with the Maple Leafs and played in 62 down with the Toronto Marlies, the Leafs' AHL affiliate, and had a whopping 59 points in 62 games and was a +16.
He then signed with the Blackhawks and has played a total of 11 games with Chicago across two years, having only one goal. He's currently on the Icehogs, and is having a good year, with 17 points in 26 games.
Seney is a good, reliable minor league player who just can't quite crack it in the big leagues. Brett will be a great asset to Team Canada as he plays well on both ends of the ice and can set up goals and can pass the puck really well. But, when he needs to, he can rip one with ease.
