During the inaugural broadcast of ESPN's coverage of the Utah hockey club, former NHLer PK Subban chose to wear a Chicago Blackhawks jersey while the remaining guests wore Utah jerseys.

Whether this was planned or was something Subban wanted to show some balance with the Chicago jersey, it certainly caught many by surprise as he had never played for the organization but still wanted to put the jersey on.

This game had special meaning for the NHL as this was the inaugural game for their new Salt Lake City franchise. It was a whirlwind summer for Ryan Smith and his ownership group after he crafted one of the fastest sales in history with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and former Arizona Coyotes owner Alex Murello.

Game one appeared to be a success as the building was full and fans were on their feet while the Blackhawks were attempting to solve UHC's goaltender Connor Ingram. He was spectacular at times and stoned several players including Connor Bedard and Taylor Hall.

Subban, meanwhile, has made a name for himself as an NHL analyst and has appeared on numerous programs on ESPN and the NHL Network.

After suffering several injuries that cut his career short, he has enjoyed his rants and analysis for hockey fans to enjoy or dislike.

Blackhawks will continue their road trip to open the season as they will face off against 3 Canadian teams over the coming days and their next test will be the Winnipeg Jets on October 11th.

Game time will be 8:00pm eastern. Unfortunately, they fell to the Utah HC on Wednesday night by a score of 2-5.
