A journalist just revealed many crucial decisions that the NHL must face in the year of 2025, and it comes from BPM Sports analyst Renaud Lavoie, and there is three different points to watch for.

Now that 2025 is well underway, it's always interesting to look at what's coming, in general in the world of hockey and for the NHL.

Three things to watch for in the NHL's 2025 year, including expansion?

This also involves the renewal of the NHL's collective bargaining agreement, the expansion of the league with cities being granted teams, and the broadcasting rights of the game.

With NHL broadcasting numbers at an all-time low, including the all-time low Winter Classic audience , many believe that the NHL will no longer have games on television or cable.

However, Lavoie gave reassurance on the matter.

"What's been circulating a lot is that there will no longer be exclusivities for a single network, namely Sportsnet in Canada and TVA Sports in Quebec.

We expect TSN to pick up a little, RDS to pick up a little, TVA Sports the same thing too, Sportsnet. But what about streaming?"

What are the two other areas being addressed by the NHL in 2025?

The collective bargaining agreement, which goes hand in hand with the allowance of a new NHL franchise, due to a new agreement being needed before another team is welcomed.

According to Lavoie, two new NHL franchises will enter the NHL with Gary Bettman's funding in the coming years, and that Houston would be assured to be apart of it.

Wow!

In regards to the second franchise entering the NHL alongside Houston, Atlanta reportedly has the upper edge, but there has been no confirmation on a new arena being built in the city.

Sadly for Quebec, despite having such passionate hockey fans, it seems as if this will be their last attempt to make a bid for an NHL franchise; Atlanta and Houston already having the upper edge does not look good for Quebec.

Quebec is truly ready, but it seems as though the NHL is not, but Atlanta? Really?
