Key goaltender of the Chicago Blackhawks undergoes knee surgery that could change it all for his career
Chicago Blackhawks goalie Laurent Brossoit will miss most or all of training camp after meniscus surgery, with a recovery time of five to seven weeks.
Signed to a two-year, $6.6 million contract this summer, Brossoit could miss up to four regular-season games if his recovery takes the full seven weeks.
If he recovers quickly, he might return for the last two preseason games on October 4th and 5th. Meanwhile, the Blackhawks may call up Arvid Soderblom, last year's backup, to fill in.
Brossoit is expected to share the net with Petr Mrazek. Known as one of the better backup goalies, Brossoit posted strong numbers with the Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets over the past two years.
While the Blackhawks aren't expected to be playoff contenders soon, Brossoit's presence should improve their chances this season.
