Matt Carlson of The Hockey News lays out five of the best games that Blackhawks superstar Connor Bedard had in his inaugural season which led to his winning the Calder trophy.

Bedard had a wild rookie season as he faced several challenges including a scandal with Corey Perry, breaking his jaw after the new year which kept him out for several weeks and learning to play and work in the NHL at such a young age.

He scored 22 goals and had 61 points through 68 games which led to winning the Calder trophy as best rookie of the year. Many feel he will take another step forward in his game as the Blackhawks continued to deepen their roster with new additions through unrestricted free agency and potentially players that are coming from the draft.

Last season's play was highlighted by five of his best games which showed his talent and skill sets.

November 9th against the Tampa Bay Lightning was a particularly great game for Bedard as he had his first multi point game in his NHL career and it also showed the Blackhawks putting five goals past a former Stanley Cup champion. It was also important as this was the first game that sparked the moms trip.

On the 12th of November, bedard scored two goals against Sergei Bobrovsky when they played against the Florida Panthers. Unfortunately, the Blackhawks did not win as they lost 4-3. Bedard showed his skill with the park and his stick as he threaded the puck into the net through several moves while robbing Kevin Stenlund.

On December 27, 2023, the Blackhawks beat the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 in overtime. Bedard managed to score two goals against Connor Hellebuyck including the overtime winner.

March 10th was another great game for Bedard as the Blackhawks went on to win 7-4 against the Arizona Coyotes. This marked a breakthrough in an 8-game scoring drought for Bedard as he scored two goals and one assist.

And finally on March 12 in Anaheim, bedard put on a show we had a 5-point contest with one goal and four assists as the Blackhawks destroyed the Ducks 7-2. Many expect the guard to take the next step in his career this year and with the team improving on all levels, it's likely he will see even better numbers than predicted.
