Kyle Davidson reveals true reasoning for trading 20th overall pick
Blackhawks General manager Kyle Davidson explained the true reasoning on why he moved is second first round pick to the New York Islanders.
Davidson felt there was value to move up in the draft order as he has an abundance of pics and was willing to make that trade in order to get a better first round pick. The Blackhawks own the second overall pick and to much like last season, Davidson has options and flexibility at the draft table.
Many pundits and fans felt that this is a precursor for another deal, but Davidson firmly shot that idea down. It's safe to say that even though Davidson states this now it's likely that if a trade were to crop up that he could not resist would certainly move that draft pick to help make his team far better.
The Blackhawks are in the preferred market for defense in this draft and the team is currently torn between drafting another offensive player in Ivan Demidov or offensive defenseman Arytom Levshunov. Both players would augment the Blackhawks significantly and with solidify a need.
It remains to be seen on how he will approach his first round as Davidson is known for being aggressive to improve his team quicker.
