General manager Kyle Davidson along with his staff have transformed the Blackhawks lineup over the course of this summer.

It's clear that Davidson wants to take his team to the next level after being in the basement of the NHL for the past several years. During that time, he has amassed many draft picks including the future NHL superstar and face of the league Connor Bedard.

With the next crop of Blackhawks coming into the league either through the Rockford Icehogs or through trade, the team is younger, faster and more skilled than it has been in many years. This offseason was focused on bringing veteran help and additional scoring, defensive players and goaltending through free agency.

Players like Tyler Bertuzzi, Teuvo Teravainen, Ilya Mikheyev, Pat Maroon, Alec Martinez, TJ Brodie and Laurent Brossoit will all be key additions to the team and will give it more punch when it takes to the ice in October.

As for Bedard, with a clean bill of health after suffering a broken jaw and with better linemates including the return of Taylor Hall, Bedard is likely to have a better season and to build off his Calder trophy rookie season.

It remains to be seen on whether the Blackhawks could knock on the door of the playoffs this year and with many draft picks in the coffers for next year's draft, it's likely Davidson will continue to build out his roster with more skilled players and be a playoff contender within the next two years.
