Chicago Blackhawks Interim Coach Anders Sorensen challenged a New York Islanders goal, which resulted in a penalty for the Blackhawks. The NHL explained the decision.

Anders Sorensen was screwed over today by the NHL, as New York Islanders winger Maxim Tsyplakov, scored a questionable goal on Arvid Soderblom.

Tsyplakov's goal would tie the game 3-3, with 19:13 left in the 3rd period as Sorensen would challenge the goal.

Yet according to the NHL, the goal would be declared valid and give the Blackhawks another hurdle to cross today in the game against the New York Islanders.

This was their reasoning:

Explanation: Video review determined that the contact between New York's Maxim Tsyplakov and Chicago's goaltender Arvid Soderblom occurred in the white ice and, therefore, did not constitute goaltender interference.

The call on the ice would be upheld, and the Blackhawks would have to put in the extra effort, which fortunately saw Connor Bedard, and Connor Murphy score consecutively goals at the end of third period.

This gives Anders Sorensen a 0-1 on Coaches Challenges during his career as the Blackhawks head coach. A dismal record, for a team whose known for their excellent video coaching staff.

To give you an idea of how the challenges are going this season, the Blackhawks are 1(CFW) for 1(CFL), according to MoreHockeyStats.com

The Islanders briefly had the odds in their favor, and Sorensen was able to pull the Blackhawks into winning territory.

Nevertheless, the bias from the NHL smells a mile away.

It stinks, Gary.
