The Original Six Team has one of the biggest fanbases in the NHL, iconic branding, and the benefit of being featured in media such as movies(Wayne's World), and of course, having names like Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews attached to it's history.
With news of the Tampa Bay Lightning being sold for upwards of $2 Billion dollars recently, you have to wonder what would Danny Wirtz get out of it, should he ever sell?
The team's current value sits at $1.84 Billion as an original six franchise.
The Blackhawks were ranked fourth in valuation of NHL franchises behind other original six teams, like the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, and New York Rangers.
When compared to their cousins in the major sports leagues in America, they came in 83rd, just behind the NBA expansion team, the New Orleans Pelicans. However, the Toronto Maple Leafs come closest to the Pelicans at a valuation of $2.65 Billion.
While the NHL does lag behind major leagues like the NFL, MLB, and NBA the Hawks are still more valuable than 13 MLB franchises, and every single MLS franchise.
This isn't to say the Blackhawks value couldn't grow, as with Connor Bedard's presence the Blackhawks seem to get more and more popular, as time progresses.
They could reach the $2 Billion valuation soon and be the fourth NHL team to reach it. Teams like the Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, and Boston Bruins are also gaining in value while we speak as well.
