Blackhawks forward, Lukas Reichel, was put on a series of healthy scratches dating back to December 31st, 2024, and he recently made a return on the ice this past week.
Although Reichel did in fact make an appearance in the lineup this past week for the Chicago Blackhawks vs Edmonton Oilers game, the league is aware of the apparent falling out of favor for Reichel and that he does not have much left to offer the Hawks.
This leaves us to believe it might be number 73's time to find a new NHL organization, where he can excel as a player and offer more value to an opposing team.
Insider of Daily Faceoff, Frank Servalli, of Daily Faceoff expresses his opinion and how Reichel has surprisingly now become a trade candidate.
However, getting some calls on a player does not necessarily mean the team has given up on him, but if the Hawks receive a great opportunity, who's to say Reichel wouldn't get booted.
Despite Reichel being a first-round pick for Chicago in 2020, his first full season last year left him with a plus/minus rating of -29. These stats are definitely something to keep into consideration, especially with how the Blackhawks have played recently.
The team has been looking to build and although there are no signs of improvement, trading Reichel could potentially be the smartest option for the Blackhawks, as that may create more space for a younger and more driven individual to take his spot.
